In the modern world, many of us are enslaved to the screens in our pocket. A sight I have become accustomed to is looking up on the tube and seeing a dozen eyes glued to their phones, whereas seeing eyes glued to pages is sadly more rare.
Unfortunately it is easy to fall into the trap of endless scrolling, comparison, FOMO and unrealistic expectations of everyone and everything you see online. There is serious implications for engaging in this day after day, which I have experienced until I made a change.
I can honestly say that having a social media cleanse is one of the most satisfying and positive things you could do if you have a spare bit of time maybe on the train or tube. The rules for a social media detox could go a little along the lines of
Follow accounts that inspire you
Unfollow any account that makes you feel less than you are
Unfollow anyone who isn’t benefiting your mindset and your goals
As social media is inevitably a massive part of our lives I urge you to pay attention to what is on your feed and orchestrate your platforms to play to your advantage.
I think we all can benefit from taking back our power and illustrating what we want to see on our social media platforms to reflect what we want to see in our lives.
Or alternatively, just put your phone down and simply be in the moment. Detox your mind from digital words and images and fill it with real sights, experiences and feelings.
